WhatsApp said that in addition to its complaint channels, it has deployed tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on the platform. The social networking company says that’s why it’s focused on preventing things that can go wrong.
“We believe it’s much better to stop harmful activity from happening in the first place than to detect harm after it happens.”
In addition to those actively banned, WhatsApp also allows users to report within the app. After submitting a report against a user, WhatsApp will receive updates from the reported user or group to the complainant and information on the complainant’s recent interactions with the reported user.
WhatsApp has been strongly criticized as a means of spreading fake news and hate speech, not only in India but also in other parts of the world.
