US media: Pro-level products will become the most dazzling stars of Apple’s autumn conference

Gurman had predicted last year that the iPhone 13 would have a slew of incremental updates compared to the iPhone 12, such as camera improvements and the addition of a ProMotion screen to the Pro version, but overall it’s not fundamentally different from the previous version. At the time, he also expected the iPhone 14 to bring more significant changes. However, Gurman now believes that for the second year in a row, Apple will bring more modest upgrades rather than more radical improvements.

This year, Apple will continue to offer four different iPhone versions, including two Pro models and two standard models. But, as Gurman has already detailed, there won’t be an iPhone 14 mini to replace the iPhone 13 mini. Instead, Apple has focused on larger devices. The company plans to launch the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple will make camera hardware upgrades to the standard iPhone 14 models, but the most significant upgrades will be reserved for the Pro series. The company’s Pro-level high-end products should be the focus of this year’s launch, in addition to smartcell phone, there will also be a new high-end Apple Watch and upgraded AirPods Pro.

iPhone 14 Pro bangs change the most

Unlike the standard iPhone 14 models, the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a faster A16 chip, an always-on display, and a 48-megapixel rear wide-angle camera system.

In addition to these hardware upgrades, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to have some design changes, the most important of which are improvements to the notch area that houses the camera and Face ID sensor. This will be the second year in a row that Apple has reduced the size of the bangs, although last year’s upgrade didn’t bring real functional improvements.

The new bangs will consist of a hardware cutout for the front-facing camera (with autofocus for the first time) and an improved facial recognition sensor. When the device is enabled, the notch will turn into a “pill screen”. Some have argued that if Apple didn’t integrate the two cutouts, it would feel weird when watching videos or scrolling through text. While the smaller bangs free up extra screen real estate, Gurman doesn’t think the status bar at the top of the iPhone will change much.

Aside from the bangs, Gurman expects the iPhone 14 Pro model to look slightly larger overall, with thinner bezels. They will also come with larger batteries.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max also have significantly larger camera areas on the back, housing the new 48-megapixel wide-angle camera system and improved telephoto and ultra-wide-angle sensors. In addition, Gurman is looking forward to enhancements in video recording and low-light photography.

Apple is also likely to ramp up its eSIM push this year, as carriers prepare to steer users to digital embedded SIMs instead of physical ones. In fact, Apple has considered completely eliminating the physical SIM card slot on some models starting this year or next.

All in all, Apple’s above improvements won’t be a game changer, but Gurman still thinks they’ll be enough to entice users of the iPhone 11 and earlier models to upgrade, especially given that Apple and its partners will be implementing changes over the next year. massivetrade-inActivity.

Gurman expects the new iPhones to hit store shelves on Sept. 16, about a week earlier than usual, which should give Apple a few extra days of revenue in its fiscal third quarter, which includes September. Unlike last year, when Apple’s revenue surged because of the pandemic, the company could use the extra billions of dollars to allay investor concerns about slowing growth.

In theory, about 50% of Apple’s revenue comes from the iPhone, but the actual percentage is much higher. The 50% figure refers to cash receipts from the sale of iPhones, without taking into account the phone’s impact on other products. AirPods and Apple Watch are only available for iPhone users, and Apple’s release of new phones could spur shoppers to buy extraAccessories。

Strong push of the first Pro-level Apple Watch

AirPods and Apple Watch are Apple’s top performers in the wearables, home and accessories category, which accounts for about 10% of Apple’s total revenue. appletelevisionThe set-top box Apple TV and the smart speaker HomePod also fall into this category, but these products were updated later.

This may be the reason why Apple is releasing updated versions of its iPhone and its two major accessories at the same time. The new AirPods Pro will be an upgrade to models that first went on sale in October 2019. Gurman had predicted last year that the new AirPods Pro would arrive in 2022, and now he’s been told they’ll be unveiled on the 7th.

Apple’s upcoming, and most important, new product will be the first Apple Watch Pro. Apple wants to follow Garmin’s lead in creating high-end, rugged watches that cater to heavy-duty athletes like mountain bikers, hikers and marathon runners.

While Apple captured about 36 percent of the smartwatch market in the second quarter, according to Counterpoint Research, there is one statistic that may come as a surprise: While Apple is known for its high prices, Garmin is priced at around 30 percent. Market share leader for models $500 and up. That may change with the introduction of the Apple Watch Pro.

The new high-end Apple Watch will have a significantly larger display, so users can view a redesigned watch face and more fitness and health tracking stats at the same time. It will also have a larger battery, a sturdier titanium case, and a low-power mode. In addition, the smartwatch features an all-new design that improves the form factor of the Series 4, which was first introduced in 2018.

Gurman was told that the Apple Watch Pro will be quite large and may not appeal to all consumers as it will be larger than most wrists. Older Apple Watch bands may no longer look right given the larger size, but the new case is designed to allow people to continue using their existing bands. This device should appeal to those coveting Garmin watches of the same size.

As with the Pro iPhone in 2019, the release of the Apple Watch Pro will allow Apple to reserve the most important new features for higher-priced, more revenue-generating devices. Given the new features, Gurman expects the watch to cost at least $900 to $1,000 more than the current Apple Watch Edition. By comparison, Garmin’s high-end watches cost between $1,000 and $1,500.

The other two smartwatches Apple releases this year won’t be a big change. Among them, the upcoming new Apple Watch SE will look similar to the current model released in 2020, but its chip will be upgraded from the S5 to the S8, and this processor will also be used in the Apple Watch Series 8 Standard and Pro versions. middle.

The main update to the flagship Apple Watch Series 8 will be the addition of a new body temperature sensor, as well as fertility-related women’s health features. This will add to the device’s existing health features, including EKG, blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring.

While some Apple watchers have called for the company to further diversify its products beyond the iPhone, the company is actually continuing to diversify its revenue from the iPhone. Apple is looking to generate more revenue from products related to the device, while keeping the biggest improvements on its higher-end, more profitable models.

One more thing to watch: In March, Gurman said that Apple was preparing to launch an iPhone subscription service bundled with Apple One. He still believes that Apple may do so by the end of the year.

September 7th isn’t the end of Apple’s Pro-level upgrade, which the company could launch in OctoberiPadPro and high-end Macs.
