The patent picture shows that OPPO seems to be developing a new detachable phone. The patent was submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as early as December 2019 and announced today. The picture in the patent shows a detachable screen that can be connected to the main device, which looks similar to an LG dual-screen phone. The main screen is called the master device, and the detachable screen is called the “slave screen” in the patent, but unlike LG phones, the slave screen (also known as the secondary screen) can work even after being separated from the main device .
According to OPPO’s patent description, the main device (the main screen) can communicate with external devices, and the slave screen can still communicate with the main screen even after being detached. It is guessed that it may be through Bluetooth or another form of wireless connection. The patent list indicates that the subordinate device will be used as a traditionalcell phone, It also has the functions of a keyboard, screen and wireless transceiver, but it seems to lack a camera. There is a bracket on the side of the main device, and the second screen is connected there.
OPPO’s patent picture shows that the volume buttons of the phone are on the left ridge, while the speaker grille and USB Type-C port are on the bottom. It has dual camera sensors on the back. The slave device will add additional battery capacity, and may even be the storage space of the master device, and there is no doubt that it can also bring additional screen size. The slave device can be placed flat on the main display screen or folded to any desired angle. The usage is similar toSamsungGalaxy Z Flip3. Since this phone and unique design are still in the patent stage, we are not sure whether OPPO will launch such a phone, but considering its uniqueness, we hope it can become a reality as soon as possible.
