The project is located in the Sichuan Chunchangba Hydropower Station, which has been put into operation. Using the existing Chunchangba Reservoir and its water diversion system in the upstream and the existing Sanguanqiao Reservoir in the downstream to build a new pumped-storage power station, a variable-speed constant-frequency reversible pumped-storage power station is installed. The power generation unit has an installed capacity of 5,000 kilowatts. After completion, the annual power generation capacity is 12.65 million kilowatt-hours, and the annual installed capacity is 2,530 hours.
The construction of this pumped-storage power station has important demonstration significance for my country to master the key technologies of design, manufacture and collaborative control of full-power variable-speed constant-frequency reversible pumped-storage complete equipment. It provides engineering reference examples for my country to achieve the “dual carbon” goal, reduce renewable energy curtailment, promote multi-energy complementarity, and synergistically optimize the comprehensive development of new energy power.
The unit is a high-speed, horizontal structure with high design requirements for rotor structure and operational stability. The project has been implemented since June 2018.
In the process of project research and development, according to the requirements, the technicians of HEC repeatedly optimized the electromagnetic load, insulation system, cooling system and structural strength to achieve the optimal matching design, and completed the first full-power variable-speed constant-frequency generator motor in China. Developed and mastered the core technology.
