Sony has publicly predicted that 14.8 million PS5 game consoles will be sold this fiscal year, so although this is not a big drop, it shows how tight supply may be in the foreseeable future. The number of 16 million units will enable Sony to achieve this goal while ensuring additional inventory for the next year.
It is said that Sony is having trouble with logistics and component supply because the world is struggling to cope with an unprecedented shortage of chips. Bloomberg’s report stated that the shipment of components does not always arrive on time, and that varying degrees of vaccine promotion complicates the operation of the production base.
Sony forecasts 22.6 million PS5 sales for the fiscal year beginning in April 2022, but it is said that its manufacturing partners find it difficult to achieve this goal. In other words, don’t expect to buy PS5 in the short term will become easier.
