The outage began at 3AM ET today, coinciding with initial reports on Twitter and Reddit. Starlink users from the U.S., New Zealand, Mexico, U.K. and other countries have reported service outages. As of 7AM ET, most users had regained access, although many still reported a drop in throughput, with some dropping from around 200Mbps/30Mbps down to 32Mbps/17Mbps (downlink/uplink).
Last week, SpaceX lowered Starlink’s monthly subscription price by 50% in some regions in response to “local market conditions.” Then Elon Musk took to the stage with T-Mobile to announce a deal by connecting satellites to existingcell phone, to end the dead space between the mobile communication base stations.
