Cloud Imperium Games plans to have 1,000 employees in the new studio in 2026.
Cloud Imperium Games said in an official statement: “The company is committed to the development of British games and invested in the development of its Manchester studio, making it a key team in its large game plan. This new Manchester studio will be set in 2022. Local recruitment began at the beginning of the year. Positions include programmers, artists, animators, audio experts, writers, designers and producers, and administrative positions, as well as junior positions for newcomers who want to start in the video game industry.”
This new studio is located in the heart of the corporate city district of Manchester Goods Yard, a cluster of media, technology and creativity designed to connect businesses within the city.
Chris Roberts, owner of Cloud Imperium Games, explained why the new studio is so important to him personally: “Manchester is where I started my career in video games. In 1983, at the age of 14, I was hired to write monthly games for BBC micro-users. I am pleased to announce that we have signed a long-term agreement to establish our largest office to date in the heart of Manchester.”
