And through the investment of 5 trillion won to increase 4nm production capacity,SamsungIt is expected to win back major customers such as Qualcomm, Supermicro, and NVIDIA from TSMC.
Previously, due to low output efficiency, Qualcomm switched to TSMC to produce the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) chipset after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Even so far, Google has insisted on mass production of the second-generation TensorFlow SoC based on the 4nm process in cooperation with Samsung. But the search giant’s smartphone shipments account for only a fraction of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon competitors.
In addition, in order to win over customers, Samsung is bound to give more affordable mass production quotations. Some research institutions pointed out that Samsung’s advanced manufacturing capabilities have fallen far behind TSMC.
The South Korean chip giant’s production capacity is only 1/5 that of its rivals. Both companies declined to comment for this report.
