Owl gives three different types of CPU grease application methods. Large platforms such as TR4 and LGA3467 can be applied in more points, and medium platforms such as AM4 and LGA1700/20XX series can be applied with a little silicone grease around and in the middle.
For platforms like AM5,Owl recommends smearing a little silicone grease in the middle of the CPU metal cover, about 3-4mm in diameter, and then using the pressure of the radiator’s fasteners to spread the silicone grease.
This smearing method may be to avoid the leakage of silicone grease to theAMDOn the outside of the AM5 socket, because the shape of the octopus has irregular bumps, applying too much may cause the silicone grease to flow out. Generally speaking, it will not cause problems in the circuit, but some metal-containing silicone grease may cause to risk.
