Implementing such projects independently is very difficult from a funding and necessary capacity point of view, he said.
“Similar projects require the broadest possible international cooperation. The U.S. lunar program is also designed for extensive cooperation,” Borisov said.
He also emphasized that, as of now, Russia’s lunar exploration program is “imperfect from a financial and scientific point of view.”
“We need super-heavy rockets to get the necessary amount of equipment there,” Borisov said. “If we’re talking about building an inhabited base station on the moon, then in addition to transportation, energy has to be addressed. These require very Serious research.”
