According to Activision Blizzard’s financial report for the second quarter of 2022, Diablo: Immortal has been very popular in the past few months, with more than 30 million players downloading the game. Activision Blizzard also said that more than half of those players are new signups.
Essentially, this means that roughly half of Immortal players are new to Diablo, or new to Blizzard games. “To date, more than half of the game’s player accounts are new to Blizzard,” the report said, although some players may have played Diablo 1-3 before and created a new account just for the game. But most players wandering around Sanctuary are experiencing Diablo for the first time.
Given the huge success of Diablo: Immortal, Activision Blizzard may develop more mobile games in the future. Because most novice players come from mobile, this also means that there is still a market for RPG games on mobile devices. And Activision Blizzard hopes that new players of Immortal will stay in the game until Diablo 4 launches and achieve greater results. They will continue to support Immortal after the launch of Diablo 4.
