This multi-model console series is sold by Kaori30 on eBay in France, and according to Consolevariations.com, it consists of about 2,400 consoles, ranging from the first consoles invented by humans to the most recent ones.
The addition of many special editions means there are many duplicate machines in the collection, but some of them were never sold in stores, making them extremely rare. Most of these consoles are brand new, with some still in the box, which appeals to hardcore collectors. Sellers believe there are around 200 to 300 consoles in the collection that cannot be easily found on the market today.
It’s not cheap to own nearly every console ever made. The auction’s current purchase price is 984,000 euros, or about $1 million. Kaori30 also offers games including a collection of consoles, some statues, and other video game memorabilia.
Kaori30’s collecting hobby over the past 25 years hasn’t been smooth sailing, they started collecting game consoles in the early 1990s, before the activity caught on, but they sold their entire collection in the early 2000s and started a business .
Kaori30 then started the current collection in the early 2000s. They discontinued the practice in 2011 due to lack of time and difficulty finding missing console products. Some of the machines were sold in 2015/16, but collectors then recovered almost all of them a few years later.
While Kaori30 believes this is the world’s richest collection of consoles, it’s unlikely that many collectors have the money or even the space to buy them, so owning them is most important to a world-first reputation.
