There are various cafes in Huawei’s campuses across the country. In 2019, a doctoral student joined Huawei after graduation. His research direction is “brain-like intelligence”, which is an emerging interdisciplinary subject. Since 2020, he often drinks coffee and chats about technology with college teachers and students at Chasiwu, and also discusses academics and joint research with experts from different departments, and even brings in market personnel and potential customers to promote cutting-edge technologies. and United.
For more than a year, he drank more than 1,000 cups of coffee in the tea house. His team and product line have jointly completed more than 20 technological innovations and achievements transformation, and published more than 10 papers. Facing the rich fruits, he sighed: “The coffee in the tea house is made of sweat and sparks.”
Reading thousands of volumes can help us enrich our theoretical knowledge; a thousand cups of coffee can help us absorb ideological energy and stimulate innovation. In early August this year, Huawei presented the “Spark Award” to the winners, thanking them for their significant contributions to the industry and the scientific community.

More than 20 years ago, there was a young man at Huawei’s Russian Mathematical Research Institute who was engaged in algorithm research. Because he was unwilling to leave his hometown of Russia, in order to keep him, Huawei set up a local mathematics research institute in Russia. After he joined Huawei, he didn’t like to interact with people. He spent his days fiddling with computers, playing games, and occasionally doing some mathematical research. For a long time, he seemed to be mediocre, with no scientific research results. But it is such a “weird” genius who broke through the algorithm problems from 2G to 3G ten years later. Based on this achievement, Huawei also launched a Single RAN solution for the European market, gradually surpassing our competitors. .
The “weird minority” that is difficult for ordinary people to understand may have talents that ordinary people can’t surpass in some aspect. “Using people’s strengths and making the best use of their talents” is our way of employing people.
The protagonist of the second short story, graduated from Tsinghua University with a master’s degree in chemistry in 2016. After he joined Huawei, he engaged in software coding development. He said that changing the track is due to love. Today, these jobs are increasingly being carried by digital technologies. Compared with today, the struggle at that time seemed a bit difficult, but the spiritual world was very rich.
