BGR explained after Comic-Con 2022 that Marvel actually provided more information than we expected, especially the project names and time windows of “Avengers 5” and “Avengers 6”.
More importantly, Disney does not hold the film rights to “Spider-Man”, so the MCU project starring “Dutch Brother” (Tom Holland) is actually produced under Sony’s leadership.
What’s clear for now is that Marvel is working on Spider-Man 4 with Sony — something Kevin Feige made clear after the premiere of No Way Home — and Holland should Will appear in another future MCU movie.
After all, the Disney-Sony deal is rumored to cover two more Spider-Man appearances after the controversial hiatus from Far From Home.
MCU Phase 5
Although an exact release date for Spider-Man 4 has not been announced, Bugs is expected to make an appearance in Avengers: Dynasty Kang and Avengers: Secret War. Before that, Holland may have another independent film.
Not long after, Reddit “Marvel Studios whistleblower” (MarvelStudiosSpoilers) subreddits reveal more details about the future of the Spider-Man IP.
Sony is said to have yet to finalize the release dates for the three Marvel movies, “The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” “Sinister Six,” and “Silver and Black.”
The whistleblower pointed out that while Spider-Man fans are excited, the more interesting content in this MCU leak is a certain Spider-Man-related gem.
And an as-yet-untitled Sony MCU movie—apparently only the current installment of Spider-Man 4 is most appropriate—will hit theaters on June 7, 2024.
Given that Captain America: The New World Order is set for May 3, 2024, and rumors suggest that three MCU actors will appear in Thunderbolts on July 28, 2024.
After the fifth phase of the MCU draws to a close, the studio will have enough time to complete the production of the “Spider-Man 4” sequel – even if the date of June 7 will be somewhat similar to the 45-day release of “Captain 4” period overlap.
Finally, Disney will put MCU movies on the Disney+ streaming platform 45 days after release. So the June schedule of “Spider-Man 4” is still a bit of reference.
