GlobalFoundries announced the expansion of its Singapore factory in June last year. It is expected to invest about US$4 billion to increase production capacity to meet the needs of related customers for chips manufactured by GlobalFoundries.
According to the plan, GlobalFoundries will expand the Singapore factory. The new factory includes 250,000 square feet, which is about 23,000 square meters of clean room, as well as the new management office. At present, the construction of the main factory has been completed. It will be put into production in 2023.
After investing nearly US$4 billion in the expansion, the annual production capacity of GlobalFoundries’ Singapore factory will increase by 450,000 wafers, and the annual production capacity of the factory will increase to 1.5 million 12-inch wafers.
With TSMC in the United States, Japan andIntelLike the factory in Germany, the expansion of the Singapore factory by GlobalFoundries will also create a large number of new jobs, with an estimated 1,000 new jobs.
