Remember the experimental web widget for Microsoft Edge? This feature is currently called “Edge Bar”, and it comes with a new sidebar that allows you to easily browse your favorite websites on the desktop.Edge Bar is a unique widget for Edge. It is similar to the news and weather information of Windows 10, except that it is fixed on the browser.
Microsoft said that the Edge Bar function will soon be integrated into desktop widgets. With this new feature, you can stay up-to-date with personalized news sources provided by Bing, and you can also get the latest information on weather, news, sports, stocks, and more.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the Edge Bar and the taskbarWindows10 News and weather sources are similar. And it also seems to be a widget window based on Windows 11. In addition, when you close Microsoft Edge, the Edge Bar will remain visible on the desktop.
Like Windows 11 widgets, you can achieve a personalized Edge Bar experience by adding your own tags to the Edge Bar. For example, you can fix Outlook on the Edge Bar and access your email from anywhere.
Even if you close Microsoft Edge, you can still access Outlook and other content in the Edge Bar through the floating icon located at the top of the Windows application. If your favorite website has a responsive design, they will also be displayed normally in the Edge Bar.
By default, Edge Bar displays cards with themes such as weather, money, and sports on Windows 10 and Windows 11. These can be turned off and users can choose to view the information they are interested in. For example, you can click on the “…” in the upper right corner of the weather, money, or sports card to select the option that allows you to hide the card.
