DoorDash is launching SafeDash, a new in-app security toolkit designed to help its deliverymen feel safe at work. SafeDash will be launched in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Users of platform distributors across the United States will get SafeDash before the end of the year.
The company has partnered with ADT to introduce two new features in the toolkit. The “safety-assured phone” feature allows users to contact ADT agents through the Dasher app if they may feel unsafe. The ADT agent will keep the call until the individual thinks he is out of danger. If the incident escalates and the person hasn’t been in a certain period of time Response, ADT will contact 911, according to the smartcell phoneGPS requires an emergency response to their last known location.
DoorDash is also introducing an “emergency assistance button” that allows users to seek help when needed. Once the delivery person clicks the button, the ADT agent will contact 911 and keep in touch with them via SMS. The agent will then pass on key information, such as the person’s location, to the 911 operator. The company pointed out that this feature allows users to get 911 help without having to call.
Elizabeth Jarvis-Shean, DoorDash’s vice president of communications and policy, said in a statement: “SafeDash was born out of feedback from Dashers. We hope that by using these tools, we provide Dashers with another resource to make them feel safe on the road. And rest assured.”
DoorDash said it plans to develop more features for the toolkit and hopes to launch virtualeducateResources, direct communication, educational materials, and in-app guidance. It’s worth noting that DoorDash’s SafeDash toolkit is similar to Uber’s driver safety toolkit, which also includes an in-app emergency button and other features.
Prior to the launch of SafeDash, DoorDash predicted that third-quarter results may be relatively weak, on the grounds that consumer behavior related to the pandemic may continue to affect its business, which continues to be uncertain.
