In the era of the transformation of global automobiles to electric vehicles, China’s battery manufacturer Ningde era has become the “trendr” of the era with a market share of more than 30% of the global power battery market. A few days ago, Fisker, a US electric vehicle start-up, officially stated thatCATL agreed to provide more than 5GWh of battery capacity per year for the Ocean SUV under Fisker Motors. CATL will produce small lithium iron phosphate battery packs and large high nickel manganese cobalt battery packs for Ocean.
According to reports, Fisker and CATL confirmed a formal agreement to ensure the battery capacity of Fisker’s high-end pure electric SUV, Ocean.
According to the agreement, CATL will provide Fisker Ocean with two different battery solutions, including lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemical batteries and the latest chemical batteries based on lithium phosphate (LFP) research and development. From 2023 to 2025, the initial battery capacity provided by CATL will exceed 5GWh per year.
The requirements for the supplied batteries are also stricter. In addition to meeting Fisker Ocean’s stringent packaging requirements, the Fisker Ocean battery pack also has other features, including allowing the use of innovative engineering integration strategies to charge directly from the optional solar roof.
In addition, both battery pack solutions have been carefully designed to support more than 250 kilowatts of charging power.
According to the plan, Fisker will exhibit the intended version of Ocean, as well as optional battery specifications and product features, at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, 2021, and then begin production and delivery of Fisker Ocean in November 2022.
