The upcoming watchOS 9 software update is not compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple is expected to stop selling the device after it unveils the new Apple Watch model at a special event on Wednesday.
New models rumored to be announced at the event include the Apple Watch Series 8, a higher-end Series 8 model likely to be named the Apple Watch Pro, and the second-generation Apple Watch SE. The original Apple Watch SE could replace the Series 3 as the new lowest-priced model.
The Apple Watch Series 3, which launched in 2017, is already very outdated, and as the Series 4 and newer models of watchOS 9 near release later this month, the Apple Watch Series 3 is also entering the countdown to its own life cycle.
