In the Mail app, emails sent by brands with BIMI records are marked with a “Digital Certification” label, which is visible when you click to expand the email header. Next to the label, the “Learn More” link leads to the following message: “This email has been verified from the owner and domain [example.com.] of the displayed logo.”
According to the BIMI Group website, to display the brand logo, the sender’s domain must pass DMARC authentication checks. If the email is authenticated, the mail application queries DNS for the corresponding BMI record.
According to a tweet shared by software engineer Charlie Fish, Chase Bank appears to be an example of a brand implementing BIMI, with the Chase logo appearing next to emails the bank sends in the Mail app on iOS 16. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Fastmail also support BIMI, according to the BIMI Group.
