Compared to the performance of the previous generation Ryzen 7 5700G flagship desktop APU,AMDThe scores obtained by the engineering samples were average at best. The RDNA 2 graphics portion of the chip appears to have the codename “GFX1036”.
Although we don’t have Vega 8’s4KTesseract score, but the GFX1036 RDNA 2 IGP results are interesting in their own right, as it suggests some kind of bottleneck in the RDNA 2 system, which is why the scores at 1080p and 2160p (4K) are nearly identical.
This shows that the Ryzen RDNA 2 APU still has a lot of optimization work to do, at least on Ubuntu 20.04. In fact, there could be some really big gains, as recent tests have shown Ryzen 4000 APUs to have very positive results compared to 20.04 on Ubuntu 22.04. Linux 5.16 also brings significant gains to AMD’s Ryzen APUs.
